When would you "expect" to vacate a vacation rental if you booked a time for 5/31 - 6/6?
We booked a vacation from Sunday-5/31- Saturday-6/6. We have always used this time method and have always stayed THRU the last day (departing the following morning by 10. However, for the very first time ever, we had a knock on our condo door (on 6/6 - saturday morning) and the was told that our time was up and needed to vacate. We secured the week! By leaving at 10am on the 6th, while arriving at 4pm on the 31st is ONLY 5 full days. That is not right. Am I wrong?
Some rentals (ours included) have a "timeframe" for their week. Ours is Friday to Friday -- come in Friday at 4 p.m., leave Friday by 10 a.m.
Sounds to me like this might have been a Saturday-Saturday timeframe rental. But, since you wanted to come on Sunday, that's when your week started. (Chances are good that the WEEK charge was cheaper than the charge would have been Sunday-Saturday). You'd still need to leave by Saturday morning with that timeframe.
I'm wondering if the reason why it was enforced for you this time was actually the time of year you came. Summer is prime season. It's possible that in the past, there were no renters coming in that Saturday night... but this time, there were.
Either way... this should have been FULLY communicated to you, and obviously it wasn't. The owners or management company did a poor job with that, and as a result, I think they need to offer you something in compensation for their poor communication of the rules.
